Power Brands Bollywood Film Journalists Awards are the only awards in the country:
• Where more than twenty of the leading film journalists of this country do an open ballot voting for all categories and disclose who they voted for online two weeks before the award ceremony.
• Where awards are given irrespective of the winners presence as they are are declared a fortnight in advance at least.
• Where the runners up are also awarded with the title of associate winners
• There are no nominations and journalists are free to give any one their vote amongst the films released last year.
Basically it's the only credible awards in the country and for the same it has garnered huge appreciation, though still only in its 3rd year.
Power Brands is not just a global standard of brand excellence and an ode to the glamour of Individual Brands, but has over the years emerged as one of the greatest symbols of corporate commitment towards a better world.
On one hand, every year, on the basis of extensive researches in various continents and countries across the world, a list of the Most Recognisable Brands is brought out and only these brands that are pre announced and declared are offered the title of Power Brands. On the other hand ever year, leaders of this exclusive club of power brands, come together to join hands pledging their commitment towards a more equal world at forums like the London International Forum of Equality or the Power Brands Bharatiya Manavata Vikas Puraskar (Indian Human Development Awards).
Power Brands, in India has also started the most noble and unique initiative to bring about transparency in Bollywood Awards. The Power Brands Bollywood Film Journalist's Awards (PB BFJA) is the only award of its kind in Bollywood that recognises really deserving talent on the basis of online open ballot voting by a jury of 15 plus respected film journalists of India. The award not only recognises the winners but also the associate winners in each category.
While the London International Forum for Equality ($5000 for each of the ten winners) and Bharatiya Manavata Vikas Puraskar (Rs. 50,000 to 5,00,000 for each of the 15 winners) always carried cash prize money, from the Year 2019 even the special category winners at PB BFJA and the Global Power Brand Iconic Trendsetter Award at the Power Brands Global Summit for Business Trendsetters, USA will also be carrying cash prizes.
Thus, what sets Power Brands aside is it's genuine commitment to a better world as well genuine commitment to honouring genuine achievers based upon complete research and transparency - be it in the world of brands or cinema.
Power Brands-Bollywood Film Journalist's Awards organized by Planman Motion Pictures and Daily Indian Media, in particular was started with the clear ambition of being the Oscars of India. This is India's only film awards decided on the basis of Open Ballot Voting.
The voting is done only by film journalists of India on email, and the detailed results of who has voted for whom can be seen on our website at least a fortnight before the award ceremony. Apart from being Open Ballot and highly credible due to voting being restricted only to film critics, the award also is unique as it honours not just the winner but the associate winner as well. Also unlike other awards, since the winners are declared before hand, the awards are given irrespective of the presence of the winner.
While year the launch year 2017 was unique because Manoj Bajpayee won the best actor award and Aamir Khan the associate best actor award. The year 2018 was unique because in the Best Actor category Rajkumar Rao took away both the winner and the associate winner awards for his stellar performances in Trapped and Newton. He also won the best supporting actor award for his role in Bareilly Ki Barfi.
The man behind this unique concept Dr. Arindam Chaudhuri says "I do hope the industry supports this unique effort in full force in the coming years so that such genuine awards are promoted where awards are not given on the basis of attendance but on the basis of merit. I do hope one day Aamir Khan takes back his vow of not attending any awards functions and makes his first appearance here due to its completely transparent nature."
The Power Brands-Bollywood Film Journalist's Awards, organized by Planman Group began with a mission and vision to recognize excellence and honor the finest in cinematic achievements, with high integrity and transparency and become the true voice of creative filmmaking.
Recent surveys have proved that viewers are being dismissive of the plethora of popular awards being dished out, which have been ‘contaminated’ with star power, and have wandered away from celebrating true talent, to become a big publicity party.
As Dr. Chaudhuri says, “Awards are given even if you merely attend an award ceremony, or at the diktat of channels that want viewership. At PB-BFJA we decided to entrust the selection to critics who have been watching films every week for years.”
PB-BFJA has no nominations. Film critics are free to decide their choice.
This unique initiative comes from Planman Motion Pictures that has produced 9 films including 3 National Award Winning Films- Faltu, Do Dooni Chaar and The Last Lear; which have in total won 5 National Awards and many other popular choice awards including 4 of the much coveted Filmfare Awards.
